William ‘Billy’ Kerr

GAMBIER — Calling hours for William “Billy” Kerr, 83, of Gambier will be Sunday, April 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica.

Billy died April 2, 2009, at his residence. He was born June 15, 1925, in Utica to the late Otis and Minnie (Livingston) Kerr. Billy sheared sheep for 50 years and won state champion. He also won many other shearing awards and was known by many farmers throughout the state. He was retired from North Fork Schools and was a member of Mount Vernon Eagles.

He is survived by his daughters, Luanne Ballengee and Diane Sue Kerr, both of Gambier.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Kerr, who passed away Aug. 6, 2003; stepson, Ronald Wilson; brothers, Kenny, Paul, Walter and Otis Kerr; and sisters, Catherine Miller, Opal Hawkins and Beulah Meinke.

The Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica, is assisting the family with arrangements.
