Jean Crawford

April 8, 2009

MOUNT VERNON — Jean Crawford of Mount Vernon died peacefully on April 7, 2009, after a long illness. She was the loving mother of Brent Crawford of Mount Vernon and Beth A. Crawford of Northampton, Mass. She was the adoring grandmother of Noah S. Dickerman and mother-in-law of Robert W. Dickerman.

She was predeceased by her husband, Ronald L. Crawford, who died in 2005.

Jean was born in Zanesville to Everett and Sara Echelberry. She grew up in Zanesville and moved to Mount Vernon after she and Ron married in 1958. She was the beloved younger sibling of Lois Bost, Barbara Cravenor and Shirley West, all of Zanesville. She was predeceased by a sister, Doris, who died in 1948.

Jean worked for many years at the Knox County Career Center, retiring in 1998. She was a member of the Mulberry Street United Methodist Church and Xi Delta Nu Sorority. She was a history buff and loved to travel.

She will be remembered by her many friends and family for her smile and her contagious laugh.

She was cared for at home by her devoted son, Brent, during her last years.

A celebration of her life will take place at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church on Friday, April 10, at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Jean Crawford Memorial Fund at Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, 205 N. Mulberry Street, Mount Vernon, OH 43050. The money from this fund will be used to purchase flowers for the church in her memory.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Patel and The Laurels for all of their kind care.

The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Mount Vernon assisted the family with arrangements.
