MOUNT VERNON — Darlene A. Smith, 52, of West Curtis Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at Knox Community Hospital.
She was born June 23, 1956, in Mount Vernon to the late Charles and Marilyn (Myers) Boyd Sr. Darlene was a member of The Salvation Army Church here in Mount Vernon, where she was an active volunteer and was in the Women’s Ministry Group.
She is survived by her husband of over 32 years, Edward Smith Sr.; two sons, Edward (Lea Ann Hager) Smith Jr. of Mount Vernon and Clayton (Yona Rowland) Smith of Mount Vernon; a daughter, Tonya (Kelly) Latham of Mount Vernon; four grandchildren, Brett Latham, Ashley Latham, Allyson Black and Parish Smith; seven brothers, Charles Boyd Jr. of Mount Vernon, Bruce Boyd of Mount Vernon, Barry (Connie) Boyd of Mount Vernon, Clay (Susan) Boyd of Butler, Dariel Boyd of Mount Vernon, Dean (Heather) Boyd of Bloomville and Dale (Jodi) Boyd of Mount Vernon; two sisters, Brenda Hermony of Mount Vernon and Denise (Herman) Rittenhouse of Mount Vernon; and many nieces and nephews.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister-in-law, Candy Boyd.
Friends may call on Saturday, April 11, from 10 to 11 a.m. at The Salvation Army Church, 206 E. Ohio Ave., where the services will follow at 11 a.m. with Major Robert Bender officiating. Burial will follow in Amity Cemetery. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Darlene A. Smith.
