Charles L. Gruen

WARSAW — Charles Louis Gruen, 85, of 23570 SR 79, Warsaw, died Saturday, April 11, 2009, at the Coshocton County Memorial Hospital ICU.

He was born Sept. 4, 1923, in Cincinnati to the late Joseph and Kathryn (Jennings) Gruen. He married Patricia A. (Towzey) Gruen on Jan. 28, 1951, who preceded him in death on May 18, 2003. He was a farm manager. He was an avid bottle collector, and a hobby farmer after retirement.

He is survived by his beloved dog, "Ugly"; two daughters, Carol Pomroy of Whitmore Lake, Mich., and Susan (Dennis) Aycock of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; three grandsons, Daniel Gruen, Stephen Gruen and Michael Hemming; one great-granddaughter, Jayleigh Gruen; one sister, Ernestine Smith of Cincinnati; two brothers, Fred (Ester) Gruen and John (Joyce) Gruen, both of Cincinnati; his best friends, the Helmick family; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by two sons, John and Dan Gruen; several brothers; and one sister.

Funeral service will be held at Wednesday, April 15, at 11 a.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw, with Pastor Mark Granger officiating. Burial will follow in New Castle Cemetery.
