PRAIRIE VILLAGE, Kan. — Claude R. Hoover, 93, of Prairie Village, Kan., and formerly of Toledo, Ohio, died Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at the Brighton Gardens Retirement Community in Kansas City.
Claude was born to the late Glenn C. and Daisy G. (Stockwell) Hoover on July 28, 1915, in Center Village, Ohio. He graduated from the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Okla., in 1939 and began his career as a commercial pilot. After retirement, he moved to Kansas City to be near his grandchildren
He is survived by his daughter, Linda S. Hoover of Harrisonburg, Va.; son, Dr. Larry (Cindy) Hoover of Mission Hills, Kan.; grandchildren, Hillary, Matthew and Todd; and five nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Norma; and his brothers, Ray E. Hoover and James L. Hoover.
Friends may call Friday, April 17, from 4 to 6 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, Sunbury. Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. at Sunbury Memorial Park.
