MOUNT VERNON — Harold Virgil Beeman, 90, of Mount Vernon passed away Thursday morning, April 16, 2009, at The Laurels of Mount Vernon, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Mount Vernon on Aug. 22, 1918, to William Edward Beeman and Rhea Ella (Mawer) Beeman. He lived and worked his entire life in Mount Vernon, retiring from the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Plant in 1974 as a carpenter. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and a devout Christian.
He married Dorothy Louise Dial on May 13, 1939, in Greenup, Ky. Dorothy died on Jan. 8, 1998. He is survived by his four children, sons, Fred Beeman (Mary) of Lake Viking, Mo., Gary Beeman (Pattie) of Wooster, Thomas Beeman (Leigh) of Columbus and a daughter, Pamela Ann McLeish of Newark; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brother-in-law, Robert Dial; sisters-in-law, Frannie Dial and Dee Beeman; and a former brother-in-law, Leslie Coffield.
Besides his parents and his wife, Dorothy, he was preceded in death by brothers, Edward Beeman, Gerald Beeman and Armand Baudin; sisters, Virginia Totman, Irene Warning and Lorraine Hissong; granddaughter, Jennifer Beeman; and great-grandson, Jacob Beeman.
The family will receive friends Sunday, April 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held Monday, April 20, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Thomas Beeman and Pastor Dan Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Knox County, 17700 Coshocton Road, Mount Vernon.
