MILLERBURG — Sharon King, 58, of Millersburg passed away Thursday afternoon, April 16, 2009, at Aultman Hospital, Canton, following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, with Pastor Rick Trumbo officiating. Burial will be at the Killbuck Cemetery, Killbuck. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Holmes County Kidney Fund, P.O. Box 172, Berlin, OH 44610; or to the American Diabetes Association, 1815 West Market St., Suite 108, Akron, OH 44313.
Sharon was born on Dec. 3, 1950, in Mount Vernon and was the daughter of Lewie and Alice (Henwood) Veatch. On Oct. 23, 1976, she married Harry King, and he survives.
She was a member of the Howard Church of Christ. She was a 1968 graduate of Howard High School. She was a graduate of 3B Beauty School in Newark, where she instructed and taught. Then in 1987 she went to nursing school at East Knox Joint Vocational School and graduated on Sept. 29, 1988. She received an LPNAO Award and was employed at Castle Nursing Home for 16 years. She was an avid bingo player, enjoyed her collection of bears and was good at making beautiful crafts. She loved spending time with her family and was the best grandma in the world.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are four children, Tiffany (Randy) Ervin of Killbuck, Rodney Atkinson of Arlington, Texas, Richie King of Coshocton and Michelle (Kevin) Walsh of Cochocton; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Louise (Max) Samples of Danville and Irene McMillan of Howard; one brother, Dale (Polly) Veatch of Howard; father-in-law, Andrew King of Logan; mother-in-law, Betty Miller of Coshocton; sisters-in-law, Leona (Chuck) Hoop of Coshocton, Garnet Newhouse of North Carolina and Nancy (Jerry) Horn of Arizona; and a special friend, Pat Mishler of Killbuck.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
