MOUNT VERNON — H. David Fawcett, 72, of Mount Vernon died Friday, April 17, 2009, at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon.
David was born Feb. 14, 1937, in Mount Vernon to Harold and Mabel (Bell) Fawcett and had spent the greater part of his lifetime in the Mount Vernon area. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and had been employed at Neff’s Cardinal Market in Mount Vernon.
Surviving are his beloved companion of 27 years, Barbara Bingham of Mount Vernon; five sons, Mike, Kenneth, Todd, Joel and Christopher; two brothers, Jim (Doris) Fawcett of Orange City, Fla., and Ronald Fawcett of Sanford, Fla.; three sisters, Irene (Wes) Gadd of Mount Vernon, Patty Fawcett of Orange City, Fla., and Nancy (Jim) Obrien of Fremont; and a sister-in-law, Shirley Fawcett of Mount Vernon.
Besides his parents, David was preceded in death by his sisters, Rosie Hardesty and Kay Harding; two brothers, Dwight Fawcett and Robert Fawcett; and his canine companions, Lilly and Abby.
Friends may call Tuesday, April 21, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Graveside funeral services will follow on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Union Grove Cemetery on Grove Church Road near Gambier with the Rev. Gerald Bell officiating.
