Ricky Knapp II

MARENGO — Ricky S. Knapp II, 31, of Marengo died unexpectedly at home Friday, April 17, 2009.

He was born on March 24, 1978, in Columbus, attended Highland High School. Diagnosed with muscular dystrophy at age 5, he was a fighter and survivor, always in pain, he never complained. A lifelong race car enthusiast, he was both a driver and mechanic, and a member of the NHRA and Pacemaker Speedway in Mount Vernon.

He is survived by his son, Logan; parents, Ricky S. Knapp of Ashville, Sabrina (Bartram) and John Salazar of Marengo; grandparents, Linda Knapp of Marengo, Homer and Gladys Bartram of Marengo; aunts and uncles; special cousins including, Marcie (Dave Kelley) Fisher, Randy “Biggin” Bartram, Christa “Lynard” Bartram; close and supportive friend, Ed Dowalter, Buddy Salyors; canine companions, Rosco, Felony, Magnum.

Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 6-8 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 229, in Marengo, where service will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. with Gary Kent officiating. Burial will follow in Marengo Cemetery.
