Aurice A. Magers

JACKSONVILLE, N.C. — Aurice Alda Magers, 99, went to be with the Lord on April 18, 2009, at Onslow Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, N.C.

She was the daughter of Walter L. Winterringer and Eva Dora (Carter) Winterringer. She was born Sept. 23, 1909, in Knox County, Ohio. On Dec. 31, 1931, she became the wife of Ross J. Magers, who preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 1991.

Aurice was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Kenneth Winterringer; sisters, Harriet Iva Smith and Ruby Elizabeth Leedy; sons, Ralph Walter and Richard David; daughter, Mildred Louise Magers; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Ann Magers; and grandson-in-law, Donald Edward Albany.

She is survived by a son, Robert J. “Bob” Magers and wife Christine of Ontario, Ohio; four grandchildren, Marcia Albany of Fort Wayne, Ind., Jerry and wife Cheryl of Richlands, N.C., Kurt and wife Cathy of Mansfield, Ohio, and Richard and wife Brenda of Louisville, Ky.; eight great-grandchildren, Ryan (Carmen) Albany, Jeremi Magers, Tricia (Bill) Marshburn, Beth Albany, Megan Magers, Abby Albany, Jessica Magers and Ryan Willey; and three great-great-grandchildren, Meredith Magers, Carly Marshburn and Gage Cyrus.

Aurice was a devoted member of the Danville Grace Brethren Church and active in the Women’s Christian Fellowship.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 23, at 1 p.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. Pastor Al Hockley will officiate. Burial will be in Workman Cemetery in Danville. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time.
