BELLVILLE — Charles F. Proctor, 82, of Bellville, formerly of Mount Vernon, passed away surrounded by his family on April 21, 2009, at his daughter’s home, with whom he resided.
He was born on Dec. 9, 1926, in Evart, Mich., to the late Harry and Genevieve (McMann) Proctor. Charles was a life member of the BPO Elks, AMVETS Post 95, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He is survived by his son, Charles (Pam) Proctor Jr. of New Carlisle; three daughters, Vera (Ralph) Sickles of Bellville, Linda (Jeff) Crites of Louisville, Ky., and Susan (Don) Walton of Huntsville; three stepdaughters, Brenda (Bob) Harvey of Mooresville, N.C., Donna (Gary) Van Buskirk of Big Springs, and Carol (Paul) Ayers of Avandale, Pa.; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Jo Johnson of Winterhaven, Fla., and Patricia (Carl) Gray of Greenvalley, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ella Louise Bayes; second wife, Ellen L. Proctor; nine siblings; and a stepgreat-granddaughter.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon, with Pastor Ben Roby officiating.
