Clarissa E. Anderson

BELLEFONTAINE — Clarissa Elizabeth Anderson, 86, of Bellefontaine passed away Monday, April 20, 2009, at Logan Acres in Bellefontaine, Ohio.

She was born in Mount Vernon on Jan. 10, 1923, to the late Thomas Augustus and Mary Elizabeth (Kelly) Ralls. She was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Blaine Anderson.

On Feb. 19, 1942, 67 years ago, she married Russel Blaine Anderson and he survives. Also surviving are a son, Thomas Russel (Renee) Anderson of Forest, OH; daughters, Marlena Jean (Dennis) Elliott of Sacramento, Calif., Brenda Janiece Billhimer of Cincinnati and Marcella Jeanette Clark of Bellefontaine; a sister, Betty Jean Proffit of Mount Vernon; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Clarissa was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, homemaker; and worked alongside her husband at their family-owned business, Brookside Fruit Farm. She was also employed at Mary Rutan Hospital as a dietitian. Clarissa was a 1941 graduate of Mount Vernon High School, a member of Wayman AME Church in Mount Vernon, and for many years, a volunteer for the American Heart Association. She was an avid Ohio State fan and enjoyed playing the piano and violin.

A graveside service is scheduled Thursday, April 23, at 2 p.m. in the Mound View Cemetery, 307 Wooster Road, Mount Vernon.
