MARION — Betty J. Rine, 89, of Marion passed away April 26, 2009, at Marion General Hospital.

She was born May 31, 1919, in Roscoe, Ohio, to the late James C. Cullison and Mina O. Neldon. Betty loved to spend time with her family and enjoyed playing bingo. When she was able, Betty attended the Mount Vernon Avenue Church of Christ with her daughter and family. She was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW. Betty was a lifelong resident of Utica, but moved to Marion to be with her daughter. She had worked at the Utica Herald and for the Hiawatha Daycare Center in Mount Vernon. Betty was a mom and grandmother to many children besides her own during her lifetime.

She is survived by her son, James (Arlene) Rine of Massillon; daughter, Jo Ann (Jim) Neal of Marion; brother, James Cullison of Columbus; grandchildren, Shannon and Darren of Canton, Doug (Erica) Neal of Marion and Kimberly (Bill) Fetter of Marion; six great-grandchildren, Brandon and Brian Rine, Shalyn Neal, Andrea, Arick and Alex Fetter; sisters-in-law, Aileen Beckholt and Janice Cullison; brother-in-law, Forrest Lewis; and many nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Rine; brothers, Dale, Raymond, Wayne and Jack; and sisters, Nellie and Pauline.

Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon, where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. with Ministers Phil Williams and Ben McKinstry officiating. Burial will follow in Martinsburg Methodist Cemetery.
