FREDERICKTOWN — Sharon Kay Earnest, 62, of Fredericktown passed away Thursday morning, April 29, 2009, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
She was born Nov. 1, 1946, in Mount Vernon, a daughter of the late William Sherman and Jane Ann (Temple) Smith. Kay was formerly the activities director at Whispering Hills Nursing Home in Mount Vernon, where she enjoyed working with the elderly. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events. Kay was an avid Toby Keith fan.
Kay is survived by her children, Michael Daniel (Julie) Earnest of Mount Vernon, Matthew Lee (Melanie) Earnest of Fredericktown, and Hope Renee (Jack) Young of Fredericktown; grandchildren, Lyndsey, Lisa, Macy and Mariah Earnest, Stephanie and Steven Wagner, J.P. and Gerald Weikle, Jordan and Trace Young; a great-grandson, Blake Daniel Earnest; sisters, Ann (Steve) Buck of Fredericktown and Judy (Don) Behm of Florida; brother, Tim (Debbi) Smith of Fredericktown; several nieces and nephews; and her canine companion, Baby.
In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel L. Earnest.
The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until time of a memorial service at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, at the Snyder Funeral Home, 33 E. College St., Fredericktown, with Minister Don Linn officiating. Inurnment will be in Forest Cemetery.
