MOUNT VERNON — Sherry Kay (Scott) Hinger, 41, of Mount Vernon died Friday morning, May 1, 2009, at the Country Court Nursing Center in Mount Vernon following a courageous battle with Huntington’s disease.
Sherry Kay was born Nov. 24, 1967, in Mount Vernon and was a 1986 graduate of Mount Vernon High School. She had been employed as a childcare specialist for the Wee Care Day Care in Mount Vernon and had formerly provided children’s day care in her home. She was a member of the First Church of God in Fredericktown.
Surviving are her mother, Kay Ann Fry of Mount Vernon; her daughters, Brandy (Rhashad) Smalls of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Courtney Hinger of Mount Vernon; her grandchildren, Macayla and Leah Smalls; her sister, Marcy (Andy) Fry Hughes of Granville; and her brothers, Alan L. (Cheri) Fry of Danville, Artie (Pam) Fry of Heath, Benjamin Fry of Pataskala and Perry (Jeri) Scott of Mount Vernon.
Sherry Kay was preceded in death by her father, George Albert Scott; and her stepfather, Robert L. Fry.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 4, at 3 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, with Pastor Richard Prater officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 1 to 3 p.m.
