MOUNT VERNON — Kenneth W. Woodring, 74, of Mount Vernon died Sunday evening, May 24, 2009, in the Cleveland Clinic.
He was born July 4, 1934, in Marion, a son of the late Clarence A. and Gladys E. (Ballard) Woodring. Ken retired in 1984 from the Mount Vernon Developmental Center with 30 years of faithful service and was an Air Force veteran serving in Germany from 1952 to 1956.
Ken is survived by his special friend, Joan Sharp; his children, Roger (Stephanie) Woodring and Malinda (Daniel) Levings, both of Mount Vernon; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Clarence A. “Teddie” Willis of Virginia and Joseph Woodring of Nankin; and his canine companion, Jack.
In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Woodring; a granddaughter; brothers, Dick and William Woodring; and a sister, Wanda Jones.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from noon until the time of a funeral service at 2 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Burial will follow in the Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
