MOUNT VERNON — Martha L. McCrackin, 89, of Mount Vernon died Sunday, May 24, 2009, at the Country Court Nursing Center in Mount Vernon.
Martha was born April 26, 1920, in Mercer, Pa., to I. Franklin and Helen (Moore) Leisher. Martha graduated from Mercer High School in 1938 and attended Grove City College in Grove City, Pa. She moved to Mount Vernon with her husband, William McCrackin, in September 1964. Martha had been employed as office manager at the Mount Vernon Broadcasting Co. in Mount Vernon for 19 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mount Vernon.
Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Caroline and Stanley Eiger of Mendham, N.J., and Joanne and James Menson of Lawrenceville, Ga.; two grandchildren, Katherine Menson and Nicholas Menson; and her sister, Mary Beth Rowe of Dallas, Texas.
Besides her parents Martha was preceded in death by her husband, William McCrackin in 1992; and her brother, John Leisher.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, where funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Jonathan Fettig officiating. Burial will follow at Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
