FREDERICKTOWN — Craig M. Van Houten, 35, of Z Street, Fredericktown, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, May 28, 2009, at Knox Community Hospital.
He was born Feb. 17, 1974, in Mount Vernon to Terry and Diana (Smith) Van Houten. He was employed at Rolls-Royce and previously at T.R.W. here in Mount Vernon and was finishing his teaching degree at Western Governor’s University. He was a member of the Faith Baptist Church and loved to watch NASCAR and road racing. Craig was a devoted husband and father and loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey (Waterhouse) Van Houten; two children, Brady and Maya; his parents, Terry and Diana Van Houten of Howard; a sister, Angie (Jason) Starr of Howard; grandparents, Robert and Eva Smith, Wendell Van Houten; a niece, Shelby Starr; two nephews, Cody and Cole Starr; and many friends.
Craig was preceded in death by his grandmother, Margaret Van Houten.
Family and friends may call Monday, June 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home. A service will be held Tuesday, beginning at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Merlyn Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the family for the children’s education and left at the funeral home.
