NEWARK — A funeral service for Dorothy D McGruder, 81, of Newark will be Saturday, June 6, at 10:30 a.m. at Highwater Congregational UCC Church with the Rev. Torie Front officiating. Burial will follow in Patterson Cemetery.
Dorothy died June 3, 2009. She was born April 24, 1928, in Puckerville, Burlington Township, Ohio, to the late Raymond and Gladys (Parsons) Dixon. She was a member of the Highwater Congregational United Church of Christ, a 50-year member of the Centennial Grange, lifetime member of the Eastern Star, charter member Progressive Club, a Realtor for many years and worked for the Licking County Clerk of Courts.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Larry J. (Jill T.) McGruder of Cincinnati; granddaughter, Megan; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by husband of 53 years, Gerald W.; and sister, Darlene Dunlap.
Friends may call Friday, June 5, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Highwater Congregational UCC, 1213 Dutch Lane Road N.W., Newark.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Highwater Congregational Church.
Law-Baker Funeral Home, 34 N. Main St., Utica, is assisting the family with arrangements.
