James A. Potts

MOUNT VERNON — James A. Potts, 68, of Mount Vernon, formerly of Galena and Sunbury, died May 28, 2009, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

He was born Feb. 1, 1941, to the late Lewis M. and Bernice G. (Quinn) Potts. He was a 1959 graduate of Big Walnut High School, and a U.S. Navy veteran serving during Vietnam. He was a 50-year member of the Galena United Methodist Church and the VFW. Jim loved all sports and enjoyed spending time watching them on television. His favorite baseball team was the Pittsburgh Pirates, football the Chicago Bears, and all of The Ohio State Sports Teams.

He is survived by his wife, Linda (Wickline) Potts, whom he married July 24, 1971; daughters, Michelle Cox of Mount Vernon, Jada (Tommy) Neel of Wagoner, Okla.; granddaughter, Sandy Neel.

Memorial service will be Saturday, June 6, at 11 a.m. at the Galena United Methodist Church, with Pastor Wayne Booth officiating. Inurnment will be in the Galena Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Sunbury.
