HOWARD — Roger D. Moody Sr., 61, of Millersburg Road, Howard, passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born April 8, 1948, in Licking County to the late Delbert and Ruth (Davis) Moody. He worked for Jay Tel in Mansfield. Roger served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of AMVETS Post 95 and the Christian Covenant Church of God.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Shirley (Elswick) Moody; three sons, Roger (Julie Mitchell) Moody Jr., Travis (Cheryl) Moody and Nathaniel Elswick, all of Howard; a daughter, Arlesa Moody of Mount Vernon; nine grandchildren, Savannah Moody, Brian Moody, Kayomi Payne, Kyle Moody, Dakota Hagans, Aaron Moody, Logan Moody, Alex Moody and Tyler Moody; two brothers, Kenneth (Gladys) Moody of Newark, Delbert (Connie) Moody of Newark; and a sister, Diane (Rich) Blanchett of Newark.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by an infant brother; a brother, Joseph Moody; three sisters, Freida Sherer, Darlene Moody and Marlene Moody.
Friends may call today, July 4, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201 Newark Road, Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050, where a funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m.. Pastor Tim Overly will be officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council, will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
