PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — Vera Ruble, 86, of Parkersburg, W.Va., died Saturday, June 6, 2009, at Worthington Manor.
She was born Oct. 5, 1922, in Parkersburg, a daughter of the late William Stephen and Iowa (Farr) Grandon. She was a member of Stephenson United Methodist Church. She had been employed for the Weyerhaeuser Co. for 41 years and was a Die Mounter coordinator when retiring. She also was treasurer for the Local Union and secretary for the Knox County Labor Council.
She is survived by three grandchildren, Charles Simpson III of Gautier, Miss., Michael Simpson of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Jesi Ann Romano of New Orleans, La.; five great-grandchildren, Catherine Simpson, Marki Romano, Michael Romano, Billy Simpson and Lexi Simpson; one great-great-grandson, Shane Adams; and two brothers, Ray Grandon of Vincent, Ohio; and Robert Grandon of Valley Center, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence L. “Slim” Ruble; two sons, Charles William Simpson Jr. and Robert Stephen Simpson; a brother, William S. Grandon Jr.; and five sisters, Anna Mae G. Leach, Dorothy Grandon, Ruth Myers, Marjorie Grandon and Virginia Bonar.
Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg, W.Va., with the Rev. Terry Alvarez officiating. Burial will be at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday two hours prior to the service.
