Donald F. Beach

ELLENTON, Fla. — Donald Frederick Beach, 80, of Ellenton, Fla., formerly of Mount Vernon, died Nov. 25, 2008, at the Tidewell Hospice Center in Ellenton.

Donald was born March 12, 1928, in Mansfield to Wayne Beach and Mary Dorothy (Farguhar) Burt. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was retired from Pittsburgh Plate Glass Industries in Mount Vernon. Donald was a member of the VFW in Mount Vernon and Ellenton, Fla., the Mount Vernon Elks Lodge, and the Colonial City Moose Lodge in Mount Vernon.

Surviving Donald are his daughters, Peggy Ann Pell of Columbus, Sharon Kay Hanna of Williamston, Ky., and Donna Beach of Indian Land, S.C.; his grandson, Zachary Donald Hanna of Williamston, Ky.; his brother, Wayne Beach of Mount Vernon; and his sister, Geraldine Lafferty of Chesterfield, N.J.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Joan Marilyn (Vorus) Beach.

A service celebrating the life of Donald Frederick Beach will be Saturday, June 13, at 1 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Burial with military honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow at Saint Johns Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service.
