MOUNT VERNON — Hettie Mae Miller, 78, died Saturday, June 13, 2009, at the Whispering Hills Care Center.
She was born Aug. 22, 1930, in Linside, W.Va., to Julia (Greene) and Robert W. Biggs. She loved to crochet, do crossword puzzles and read westerns.
She is survived by two brothers, Elbert and Jennings Biggs, both of Florida; children, Frank (Judy) Flood of Bladensburg, Sharon (Duane) Heter of Winter Haven, Fla., Francis (Sandy) Flood of Howard, George (Diane) Flood of Lakeland, Fla., and Hedy Hart of Howard; 25 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Hugh, Jane, Thelma, Dallas and Mary; former husbands, Francis Flood and Felix Miller; and a great-great-granddaughter, Kaitlynn Flood.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 17, at 1 p.m. at the Fischer Funeral Home in Danville. The Rev. Steve Feazel will officiate. Burial will follow in Sunny Side Cemetery in Glenmont. Calling hours will be two hours prior to the funeral on Wednesday.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to any hospice organization.
