Amelia Macchio

MOUNT VERNON — Amelia “Molly” Macchio, 88, of Mount Vernon died June 14, 2009, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home.

She was born Jan. 23, 1921, in Matera, Italy, to the late Joseph and Maria (Gorgogliano) Calavoia. Molly was retired from Commercial Shearing Inc.

She is survived by her care taker and nephew, Joseph (Krys) Mortellaro of Mount Vernon; great-nephew, Brian (Janine) Mortellaro of Granville; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Macchio, in 1993; and a sister, Victoria Mortellaro, in 2004.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, June 19, at 10 a.m. at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. Father Mark J. Hammond as celebrant. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Graveside services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in Tod Homestead Cemetery in Youngstown with the Rev. Father John Keehner officiating. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is handling the funeral arrangements for the Mortellaro family.
