FREDERICKTOWN — Lorilla Z. Hathaway, 90, of Follin Road, Fredericktown, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2009, at her farm home in Middlebury Township where she and her husband worked side by side for 69 years.
She was born on Sept. 15, 1918, in Knox County to the late Dwight and Edith (Murphy) Shinaberry. Lorilla was a past member of the Batemantown Methodist Church and present member of the Waterford Church of Christ. She belonged to the Middlebury Grange, Women’s Auxiliary and the local Farm Council.
Worshiping God and taking care of her family were first and foremost in her life. She was a hard worker. Milking cows, raising chickens, tending to the garden and flowers and cooking family meals brought her much joy. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother as well as friend and neighbor. Lorilla will be greatly missed by her loved ones.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Leland Hathaway; a son, Darel (Lela) Hathaway; two daughters, Connie (Al) Arens and Ronda Hathaway; grandchildren, Dan (Debbie) Hathaway, Kim (Melissa) Hathaway, Gary (Karla) Arens, Cheryl (Mitchell) Bir; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler, Sydney, Dustin and Austin Hathaway, Adelyn and Nate Arens and Camryn Bir; a brother, Walden Shinaberry; and brother-in-law, Donald Hathaway.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Ronald, Derwin and Marvin Shinaberry.
Friends may call Wednesday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home, 33 E. College St., Fredericktown, OH 43019, where a funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
