Paul E. Doup

MOUNT VERNON — Paul E. Doup, 87, of Mount Vernon died June 20, 2009, at Knox Community Hospital.

He was born Nov. 13, 1921, in Mount Vernon to Harley and Florence (Ewing) Doup. Paul was a World War II Army veteran and a member of the Knights of Pythias.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Dianne (Mark) Rutherford of Mount Vernon; a brother, John Doup of Mount Vernon; two sisters, Ellen Metcalfe of Mount Vernon and Jo Ann (Don) Leonard of Columbus; three grandchildren, Matt Mowery, Michael (Christina) Rutherford and Lori Rutherford, all of Mount Vernon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Doup, in 1986; a daughter, Barbara Mowery in 2007.

Family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon. Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Mound View Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
