URBANA — Carolyn M. Owens, 70, of Urbana passed away Monday, June 22, 2009, at Springfield Regional Medical Center, East High Campus with family and friends at her side.
She was born Nov. 15, 1938, in Springfield, Ohio, the daughter of William R. and Grace (Woodhouse) Owens. Carol was retired from AT&T (Ohio Bell) after 36 years of service. She was a member of the Telecom Pioneers, Moose Lodge of Urbana and Urbana Champaign County Senior Center.
Carol is survived by two brothers, John (Carol Sue) Owens, Mount Vernon, Ohio, and William (Darlene) Owens, Springfield, Ohio; special nieces and nephews, Linda Caulfield of Urbana, Jessica Selm and Deana Short of Springfield, John (Dana) Wilson of Anderson, Ind., and William (Lisa) Owens II of Springfield; several special great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews; and best friend and caregiver, Sarah Stallsmith of Urbana. We cannot forget her sidekicks Boomer and Duchess. Carol had many special friends.
She was preceded in death by her father and stepmother, William and Mary Jane Owens; her mother and stepfather, Grace and Warren Priest; a sister, Barbara Marshall; and nephew, William Wilson.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Littleton & Rue Funeral Home, Springfield. A graveside funeral service will follow on Thursday at 11:15 a.m. in Ferncliff Cemetery.
