Stephen P. Wiford

LA GRANGE, Wyo. — Funeral services for Stephen P. Wiford, 37, will be held Thursday, June 25, at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Chugwater, Wyo., with the Revs. Tim Wiford and Clint Ritchey co-officiating. Burial will follow in the Iowa Flats Cemetery at Chugwater. He died on June 21, 2009, at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, Wyo., following a courageous battle with cancer. Visitation hours will be held at the Colyer Funeral Home in Torrington today from 3 to 7 p.m., and on Thursday morning from 8:30 to 11. A “Wiford Family Fund” memorial has been established at the Oregon Trail Bank, P.O. Box 217, Chugwater, WY 82210. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Colyer Funeral Home of Torrington, Wyo., and friends may send condolences to the family at www.colyerfunealhome.com. A service will be held in Mount Vernon, Ohio, sometime after July 4, for friends and family.

Stephen was born Aug. 11, 1971, in Lima, Ohio, the son of Roland and Darlene (Heiland) Wiford. He grew up and received his education; graduating from Melita Christian School in 1990. He then attended Allegheny Wesleyan College in Salem, Ohio. On June 4, 1993, he married Belinda Jackson in Ridge, Mont. The couple moved to Bellevue, Ohio, and then to Mount Vernon, Ohio, where Stephen was the general manager for Wiford Rental & Sales. In October of 2008, the couple moved their family to LaGrange, Wyo., where he worked for Bartlett Ranch.

He enjoyed hunting and farming and spending time with his family. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Chugwater Valley Church.

He is survived by his wife, Belinda of LaGrange, Wyo.; one son, Thane Wiford; three daughters, LaTosha, Katie and Kyndra Wiford, all of the family home; his parents, Roland and Darlene Wiford of Danville, Ohio; four brothers, Duane (Monet) Wiford of Mount Vernon, Ohio, the Rev. Tim (Elizabeth) Wiford of Anderson, Ind., Nathan (Cheryl) Wiford of Sardinia, Ohio, and Benjamen Wiford of Danville, Ohio; a sister, Rachel (Luke) Byer of Cardington, Ohio; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, LaDonna and Leland Wiford, and Roy and Freida Heiland; and an infant son, Ambrose.
