Mabel Basham

MOUNT VERNON — Mabel Basham, 87, of Mount Vernon died Sunday morning, June 28, 2009, at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born on Sept. 8, 1921, in Flatt Branch, Ky., to the late Turner George and Ora (Danner) Reffitt. She was a member of the North American Fishing Club. Mabel was a wonderful and faithful wife and mother. She was a good home-style cook and enjoyed crocheting, reading, fishing and watching television.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Frank Paul Basham, and they were married March 1, 1944; son, Raymond (Debra) Basham of Mount Vernon; brothers, George (Betty) Reffitt and Oakley (Marcella) Reffitt, both of Mount Vernon; and sister-in-law, Jeanine Reffitt.

She was preceded in death by brothers, John, Charles, Russell and James Reffitt.

Friends may call today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Ohio 3 at Ohio 61, Sunbury. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Cheshire Cemetery, with Bernard Basham officiating. Condolences may be expressed at www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.
