Glen M. Gallwitz

BLADENSBURG — Glen M. Gallwitz, 86, of Bladensburg died on July 2, 2009, at the Country Club Retirement Campus in Mount Vernon.

He was born Oct. 24, 1922, in Glenmont to the late John and Mae (Cline) Gallwitz. Glen was a retired farmer and owner and operator of Glen Gallwitz Drilling. He enjoyed watching deer and wildlife, playing euchre with friends and family, but most of all he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his sons, Wayne (Karen) Gallwitz of Mount Vernon, Paul “Pete” (Francine) Gallwitz of Bladensburg, Steve (Nancy) Gallwitz of Bladensburg, David (Ruth Ann) Gallwitz of Frazeysburg and Earl “Butch” (Debbie) Gallwitz of Warsaw; his daughters, Mary (Wayne) Teet of Bladensburg and Betty (Chip) Street of Mount Vernon; sister, Ruth Hipp of Florida; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Glen was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie C. Gallwitz, to whom he had his eight children with; son, Gary L. Gallwitz; second wife, Carrie A. Gallwitz; and a sister, Helen Anderson.

Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Bladensburg Church of Christ in Bladensburg, where funeral service will be Monday at 11 a.m., with Mr. Bruce Hissong officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. The Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Bladensburg is handling the funeral arrangements for the Glen Gallwitz family.
