MOUNT VERNON — Mary Elizabeth (Kroninger) Dickenson Cline, 95, of Mount Vernon went to her heavenly home on July 6, 2009, surrounded by her family at Knox Community Hospital.
She was born Sept. 24, 1913, in Shepard, Ohio, and was the daughter to the late Carl and Elizabeth (Walton) Kroninger. Mary married Garold Raymond Dickenson on Aug. 9, 1934, in Covington, Ky. Garold and Mary operated a service station and restaurant in New Albany for many years. They also farmed in Licking County, and Mary was the clerk for Bennington Township in Licking County from 1960-1974. Mary was a member of the Central Church of Christ and the Jolly Circle of Miller Memorial Church in Johnstown.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Sue Dickenson Cantrell of Howard; grandsons, James Edgar (Judi) Cantrell Jr. and Scott Curtis (Mary) Cantrell, both of Centerburg; great-grandchildren, Matthew and Ashley Cantrell, Trina (Adam) Doughty, Jill (David) Disbennett; great-great-grandchildren, Anthony, Gage, Paige and Gabe; sisters-in-law, Margaret Kroninger of Mount Vernon and Winifred Dickenson of Reynoldsburg; along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Garold Raymond Dickenson, in 1989; second husband, Lester Cline, in 2008; brother, Karl Kroninger; sister, Mildred Compton; son-in-law, James Edgar Cantrell; and a granddaughter, Becky Sue Cantrell.
Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home, 212 N. Main St., Mount Vernon. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Central Church of Christ, 1005 Harcourt Road, Mount Vernon, with Mr. Ken Springer and Mr. Don Linn officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Maplewood Cemetery in New Albany.
