July 9, 2009

ORLANDO, Fla. — Vaughn Romine Sr. was born in Salem, W.Va., on Aug. 7, 1925. On July 2, 2009, his life on this earth ended after a prolonged illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Pat. He was the loving father of his son, Vaughn Romine Jr.; his daughters, Debbie Sapp, Amanda Varga and her partner Mark Kapatoes; cherished grandfather of John Sapp Jr.; loving brother of Jim Romine; and very proud uncle of multiple nieces and nephews.

Vaughn grew up in the mountains of West Virginia. He proudly volunteered to serve his country as a paratrooper as well as a construction foreman with the 27th Engineer Combat Battalion in the European Theater during World War II. He moved to Orlando in 1957. He spent his career as a house painter. He was quite artistic and painting allowed this side of his personality to shine. He loved to study history, read, garden and enjoyed challenging crossword puzzles. After retirement his greatest joy was to spend time with his family and pets.

The family is having a private memorial service to celebrate his life.
