Randy E. Wells

MOUNT VERNON — Randy Eugene Wells, 50, of Mount Vernon went to be with the Lord after an eight-year battle with cancer on Saturday, July 11, 2009.

He was retired and disabled in 2004 from Thyssenn-Krupp Elevator Co. He was a member of American Legion Post in Waldo; AMVETS Post 95 in Mount Vernon, where he served as first vice president; and former member and trustee for AMVETS Post 59 in Centerburg. He was also a member of Elevator Union Local 37.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Mary and Dewitt Wells, and Roy and Opal Hart; and a brother, John Leroy Parker.

He is survived by a son, Michael (Lindsey) Wells of Centerburg; daughter, Katie Wells of Alexandria; grandsons, Jackson Wells, Landen Wells and Dominic Whitt; father and stepmother, Eddie and Carole Wells of Centerburg; mother and stepfather, Iona and John Parker of Centerburg; brothers and sisters, Deborah Wells, Kimberly Rushia, Jeff (Tammy) Parker, Jim (Tina) Parker, Eddie Wells Jr. and Becky Rayburn; stepbrother and stepsister, Randy Linstedt and Karen (Walt) Herron; loving companion, Chris Street.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, July 15, at 1 p.m. at the Johnson-Melick-Moreland Funeral Home, 49 W. Church St., Centerburg, with visitation from 11 a.m. until time of service. Pastor Sonja Bender will officiate. Interment will be in Kilbourne Cemetery with military service.

In lieu of flowers, friends may contribute to Neurological Science Department c/o The James Cancer Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.
