MOUNT VERNON — Robert E. Hoskey Sr., 92, of Abigail Lane, Mount Vernon, passed away Monday, July 13, 2009, at the Knox Community Hospital.
He was born Sept. 23, 1916, in Columbus, to the late Anthony and Mary (Steiber) Hoskey. Robert was an Ohio State Highway Patrolman from which he retired in 1969 as a sergeant. He was also employed at BancOne in Columbus for 12 years. Robert was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Danville.
He is survived by his wife, of over 74 years, Helen (Dewitt) Hoskey; a daughter, Marla Jean (Don) Wirt of Hurst, Texas; a son, Robert (Helen) Hoskey of Mansfield; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his son, Allen Hoskey; and three sisters, Florence Orr, Margurite Major and Martha Menke.
Friends may call Thursday, July 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home. A service will be held on Friday, beginning at 11 a.m., at the funeral home, with Pastor Bege Wiegman officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Gambier.
