MOUNT VERNON — Thelma J. Grindstaff, 82, of Greenway
Drive, Mount Vernon, passed away Friday, July 17, 2009, at the Ohio Eastern Star
Home, Mount Vernon, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born June 24, 1927, in Charleston, W.Va., to the late Theodore and Jennie
(Montigny) Weber. Thelma was employed for over 18 years as a travel agent with
AAA in Mount Vernon. She enjoyed bowling and was an avid reader. Most important
to Thelma was the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. Thelma
attended the Gambier Epworth United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Bert Grindstaff; her children,
Ted (Brenda) Grindstaff of Heath, Terry (Wendy) Grindstaff of Worthington, Sharon
(Randy) Tharp of Mount Vernon, Susan (Alan) Sigler of West Chester; 11 grandchildren;
and a sister, Doris (Jack) Nauman of Mount Vernon.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Friends may call Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home, 201
Newark Road, Mount Vernon. A graveside service will follow at 2:15 p.m. in Mount
Vernon Memorial Gardens.
