MOUNT VERNON — Goldie I. Rozewicz, 78, of Crystal
Avenue, Mount Vernon, passed away Friday, July 17, 2009, at Country Court Nursing
Center in Mount Vernon after a brief illness.
She was born on April 26, 1931, in Mount Vernon, to the late George and Byrdetta
(Dodd) Smith. Goldie worked as a nurse for the Mount Vernon Developmental Center
and Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon. While working as a nurse, Goldie
received her license in massage therapy and upon retirement from nursing, she
continued to work as a massage therapist at the YMCA of Mount Vernon.
She is survived by her loving family, seven children, Linda Rozewicz-Schiffel
of Fredericktown, Rebecca (George) Shaw of Grafton, Della Rozewicz of Kenosha,
Wis., Roscoe Rozewicz of Green Cove Springs, Fla., Charlie (Anna) Rozewicz of
Mount Vernon, Margaret (Daniel Shaw) Rozewicz of Pataskala, John Rozewicz of
Racine; six grandchildren, Amber Shaw, Steven Shaw, Sarah Shaw, Bridget Rozewicz,
Julia (Seth) Dennison, Emily (Jim) Mongiardo; two great-grandchildren; and a
brother, Donald (Nell) Smith of Fredericktown.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Felix Rozewicz
in 1981; a son, Felix Anthony Rozewicz in 1993; a sister, Pauline Smith; and
son-in-law, Charles Schiffel.
Friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home,
619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held Tuesday at
2 p.m. Burial will follow in Mound View Cemetery in Mount Vernon.
