HEBRON — Neil E. Swick, 87, of Hebron passed away Thursday, July 23, 2009, at the Newark Healthcare Center, Newark.
Neil was born Dec. 4, 1921, in Newark to the late Thurman Cooper and Gertrude (Mason) Swick. He was a graduate of Utica High School; a 60-year member of the I.B.E.W. Local 1105 Zanesville; life member of the Buckeye Lake VFW Post 1388; and also a member of the Masonic of Newark. Neil served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, during his time of service he received the Bronze Star of Valor, World War II Victory Medal, and the American Defense Medal. Neil has gone to be with his loving wife of 43 years, and will be greatly missed by his children and grandchildren.
Neil is survived by his daughters, Shelly (Irvin) Small, III, Mary (Art) Grashel, Joanna (Johnny Devary) Swick; sons, Jeff N. Swick and Scott F. (Laura) Swick; sisters, Mildred (Kenny) Frost and Edith (Clarence) Holler; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; numerous special friends from the local area especially Shawn, Stan and Willie.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte (McMullen) Swick; sister, Anna Louise Baker; brothers, Robert C., Carl H., and Joseph M. Swick; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 28, at 1 p.m. at the Boring-Sheridan Funeral Home, 108 N. 7th St., Hebron, with the Rev. Rube Gayheart officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at the Hebron Cemetery, Hebron. Visitation will be Monday, July 27, from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
