Donald L. Luther

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. — Donald L. Luther, 85, passed away at Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., on July 25, 2009, following a short illness.

He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Clarice. His three daughters and their husbands survive him, Christine and Ken Raines of Mentor, Ohio, Beth and Steve Upham of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Annette and Barry Hatch of Ballston Spa, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.

Don was an active resident in the Woodlawn Commons senior community. He enjoyed volunteering in the store, gardening, and taking leadership positions in the Residents’ Association. He was also a member of the Presbyterian-New England Congregational Church in Saratoga Springs.

Prior to moving to New York, Don and Clarice raised their family in Mount Vernon, Ohio, where Don was a technical writer and manager of the publications department at Cooper Bessemer. In 1983, Coopers transferred him to Grove City, Pa., where he and Clarice enjoyed the next 17 years. In retirement they fulfilled their dream of traveling throughout the country in their RV.

Don was very proud to have served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps.

Internment will be at the Gerald B. Solomon National Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on a future date at Woodlawn Commons.
