FREDERICKTOWN — Dennis “Denny” Ewers, 73, of Fredericktown died July 30, 2009, in Riverside Methodist Hospital.
He was born Feb. 23, 1936, in Fredericktown to Donald Chester “Chet” and Alice L. (McIntire) Ewers. In 1957, Dennis opened the first retail donut shop in Columbus, Capital Donut, quickly opening other locations all over Columbus. Denny’s sons joined him in the family business, which he owned/operated for 36 years.
He is survived by his wife, Diana Ewers; three sons, Jeffrey Dennis Ewers, Kevin (Marilyn) Ewers and Mark Ewers (Kelly McCallum); a daughter, Denise Stewart; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his mother of Bellville; a brother, Conrad (Jane) Ewers; a sister, Jerry Lou Bennett; numerous nieces, nephews. He was preceded in death by his father on Sept. 6, 2000.
Friends may call Sunday, 1-4 p.m., in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home, with funeral at 4 p.m. Burial will follow in Ankneytown Cemetery.
