WORTHINGTON — Jack Roberts Parrish, DDS, of Worthington and Hobe Sound, Fla., died Monday, July 27, 2009, at the age of 84.
He was born Dec. 14, 1924, in Danville, Ohio, to Gaillard and Beatrice (Roberts) Parrish. He is survived by Mary L. Parrish, his wife of 59 years, and their eight children, Ann (Doug) Fadely of Sunbury; Bea (Daniel) Marshall of Fountain Valley, Calif.; Marti, of Springfield, Mass.; Charles (Stephanie) of Dublin; John (Lien) of Crosslanes, W.Va.; David of Fairborn; Becky (Mike) Telford of Troy; Jennifer (Mike) Wester of Delaware, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Martha Ruth Merrill of Stuart, Fla.; and survived by his brother, Lanny Parrish of Danville. Along with numerous nieces and nephews, he was particularly proud of their 17 grandchildren. He graduated from Danville High School in 1942 and served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He graduated from Ohio State University in 1949 and from the OSU College of Dentistry in 1952. He practiced dentistry in Bexley for 40 years, and taught at the OSU College of Dentistry for 25 years, where twice he was named Outstanding Clinical Instructor. He also served as president of the Columbus Dental Society, secretary-treasurer of the Ohio Dental Association, and impacted the lives of several young men through his participation in Big Brothers. He was member of the Epworth United Methodist Church for 40 years. He passed on to his children a love of OSU sports, the Browns, Indians, travel, and of course family and friends.
