CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Rose Ellen Kellison Kordes, 75, of Cape Coral, Fla., passed away July 18, 2009.
The daughter of the late Clarence and Lilly Sharp Kellison, she was born in Marlinton, W.Va., on March 19, 1934.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Kordes Cross, and son-in-law, Gregg Cross of Estero, Fla.; grandson, Matthew Christopher Cross of Glendevy, Colo.; brother, Dr. Robert C. Kellison of Raleigh, N.C.; half sister, Patricia Shinn of Scotts Depot, W.Va.; and great-grandson, Kala’i Milam-Cross of Kilauea, Hawaii.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were two sisters, Norma June (Jean) Van Reenan and Lucy C. Moore; brother, Jack B. Kellison; and husband of 30 years, Thomas A. Kordes.
Finishing high school in Warren, Ohio, where she had moved to live with her sister, Jean, she later lived in Grove City, Pa., Mount Vernon, Ohio, and Germantown, Tenn. Relocating to Florida in 1979, she worked as a medical transcriptionist, retiring from SW Regional Medical Center in 2001. A loving and devoted “Gram” she adored her grandson Matt.
Memorial service was held at Lytell Lake, Estero, Fla., with ashes to be honored at private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gospel Baptist Church and Christian School, 24861 Old 41 Road, Bonita Springs, FL 34135.
