MOUNT VERNON —Marion R. “Dick” Duston, 82, of Howard Street, Mount Vernon, passed away Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home at Mount Vernon.
He was born June 4, 1927, in Knox County, Ohio, to the late Marion C. and Mildred (Taylor) Duston. Marion served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He worked in quality control for Chattanooga Glass in Mount Vernon. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church, AMVETS Post 95 and the Moose Lodge, all of Mount Vernon.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Pauline (Ray) Duston; his children, Rick (Vicki) Duston of Mount Vernon, Vicky DeWitt of Howard and Evelyn Duston of Mount Vernon; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Donna (Darwin) Horn of Newton Falls, Ohio, and Mary Morningstar of Mount Vernon.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Karianna Duston; four brothers, Harold Duston, Dale Duston, Earl Duston and Gerald Duston; five sisters, Blanch Rogers, Jeannete Oyster, Pauline Boyd, Ruth Butler and Dorothy Rogers.
Friends may call Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, where a funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. The Rev. Robert Veenhuis will be officiating. Burial, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council, will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
