Juanita Buchanan

AUSTINTOWN — Funeral service for Juanita Buchanan, 87, Austintown, formerly of Fredericktown and Ashtabula, will be Saturday, Aug. 8, at 2 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2205 Tibetts Road, Liberty, Pa. She died Monday morning, Aug. 3, 2009, at her residence.

Juanita was born July 28, 1922, in Brookville, Pa., a daughter of the late Spurgeon and Hazel (Brocious) Witherow. She had been cafeteria manager for Edgewood Junior High School in Ashtabla for 15 years and a member of Gay Street United Methodist Church in Mount Vernon.

She leaves her husband, Gordon Buchanan, whom she married in May 1942; a daughter, Peggy Russell of Columbus; a brother, Spurgeon Witherow of Youngsville, Pa.; a sister, Imogene Lamb of Erie, Pa.; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild expected in October.

Besides her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Peelman.

Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the church. There will be a graveside service Monday, Aug. 10, in Mound View Cemetery, 307 Wooster Road, Mount Vernon. Arrangements have been entrusted to Thompson Funeral Home, Youngstown, Ohio.
