Milton Johnson

MOUNT VERNON — Milton A. Johnson, 91, of Mount Vernon died Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at the Whispering Hills Care Center in Mount Vernon.

Milton was born Aug. 1, 1918, in Clackamus County, Ore., to Gerald and Ruth (Traphagan) Johnson. He had maintained a dairy farm in Pennsylvania for many years.

Surviving are his wife, Betty Jean (Shoewalter) Johnson, whom he married Aug. 15, 1980; three daughters, Ruth (Sam) Zamora of Wewoka, Okla., Nancy McCormick of Tucson, Ariz., and Kathy Brooks of Mount Vernon; stepchildren, Robin Parks of Phoenix, Ariz., Randy Parks of Boise, Idaho, and Richard Parks of Greenville, Pa.; 25 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and his brother, Lynn (Theresa) Johnson of Union City, Pa.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by first wife, Evelyn (Brooks) Johnson; a son, Milton A. Johnson II; a daughter, Diana Fenton; two brothers, Reed Johnson and Grover Johnson; and a sister, Verna Shockey.

There will be no calling hours. Private graveside service will be held at Lowville Cemetery in Lowville, Pa.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Fund at Whispering Hills Care Center, 416 Wooster Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
