MOUNT VERNON — Alice N. Harstine, 90, of Fairway Drive, Mount Vernon, passed away Sunday, Aug. 9, 2009, at the Whispering Hills Care Center.
She was born Aug. 12, 1918, in Perry County, Ohio, to the late Hayes and Lydia (Trainer) Flowers. Alice was a member of the Bell Church of Christ in Utica.
She is survived by her daughters, Beverly (James) Muston of Mount Vernon, Carolyn (Steve) Veatch of Utica; a stepson, David (Gayle) Harstine of Mount Vernon; a stepdaughter, Ruth (Don) Martin of Gardnerville, Nev.; five grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and her boyfriend for over 20 years, Loyal Moore.
Besides her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Harstine; a stepgrandson Ben Laymon; six brothers, Lloyd Flowers, Harold Flowers, Lester Flowers, Harvey Flowers, Ralph Flowers, Thoburn Flowers; and a sister, Opal Dreier.
The family will observe a private graveside service at a later date. The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Alice N. Harstine.
