UTICA — A funeral service for Helen M. Carpenter, 89, of Utica will be held Saturday, Aug. 15, at 11 a.m. at Law-Baker Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Helen died Aug. 12, 2009, at Flint Ridge Nursing & Rehab Center, Newark. She was born Dec. 5, 1919, in Knox County to the late William B. Cochran and the late Mary F. Dewitt. She was a member of Utica United Methodist Church and Morgan Grange.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Marlene Carpenter of Fort Wayne, Ind., and C. Tom and Peg Carpenter of Utica; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Ralph Hook of Rixeyville, Va., and Joyce and Rodney Hunkins of Mount Vernon; 11 grandchildren, Shelly (Daniel) Burchell, Sarah, Matthew and Joseph Carpenter, Andy (Wendy), Brian and Tyler Hunkins, and Elizabeth, Benjamin, Melissa and Nicholas Carpenter; three great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; brother, Jack Cochran of Centerburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. Carpenter, who passed away June 28, 1978; sister, Katherine Jane Lane; and, brother, Lloyd Cochran.
