DANVILLE — Helen L. Mizer, 78, of Danville died Tuesday evening, Aug. 18, 2009, at the home of daughter in Centerburg.
She was born Dec. 24, 1930, in Loudonville, a daughter of the late William Arthur and Laura Hazel (Bailey) Temple. Helen was an avid bingo player, attending all the games she could before her battle with cancer began. She loved her grandkids, her cats, Missy and Sassy, dog, Babe, and bird, Harley. Her love for her family and friends showed in everything she did.
Helen is survived by her daughter whom she made her home with, Shirley (Roy) Parker of Centerburg; sons, Gary L. Erow of Nashport, Mike R. Erow of Danville and Jeffrey L. (Marianne) Erow of Fredericktown; a sister, R. Irene Kay of Centerburg; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Hogue of Mount Vernon; 10 grandchildren and their spouses; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband, Calvin D. Mizer; a son, Robert W. Erow, and his wife, Leona Mae (Lyons) Erow; a daughter-in-law, Patricia (Hankins) Erow; a grandson, Gary Lynn Erow; and a sister, Lillian Ashbrook.
Helen will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High St., Mount Vernon, where funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m. with Mr. Bruce Hissong officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
