MANSFIELD — A real-life Rosie-the-Riveter, Mary E. Wells, 87, passed away Saturday, Aug. 22, 2009, from Mansfield Memorial Homes.
Mary was born Oct. 22, 1921, near Fredericktown, to Clarence and Edna (Irwin) Wells. She was a member of Perry Church of Christ.
Mary is survived by sisters, Ruby Cathers, Barbara French, Rebecca Chronister and Marjorie Keckler; nephews and nieces, Gerald and Velma Wells of Mount Vernon, Sue and Tom Miller of Howard, Cheryl and Harry Rhodes, Cynthia French and David and Kim Chronister; and numerous extended family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers and a sister-in-law Harold Wells, Leland Wells, John and Mary Lillian Wells, Marion Wells and Warren Wells; and two brothers-in-law.
A graveside funeral service will be held today at 2 p.m. in North Fork Cemetery, west of Waterford. Pastor Gary Miller will officiate. The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home is to handle funeral arrangements. Condolences at www.snyderfuneralhomes.com.
