MOUNT VERNON — Eugene “Gene” Redding, 76, of East High Street, Mount Vernon, has gone to rest until the second coming of our Lord, on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2009, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on Nov. 24, 1932, in Brookston, Ind., to the late Cecil and Maime (Fulks) Redding. Gene retired in 1998 after 32 years of employment with Tenbrook Sales in Indiana. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping, but most important to him was the quality time he spent with family and friends. Gene was a member of the Fredericktown Seventh Day Adventist Church.
He is survived by his children, a son, Mike Redding of Tipton, Ind., and his son, Ian Easton and his mother, Gina Easton, a son, Kevin Redding of Indianapolis, Ind., and his daughter, Chenelle Redding, a daughter, Janice (Dan) Rich of Kokomo, Ind., and their children, Lindsay, Danielle and Thomas Rich, a daughter, Kathi (Terry) DeWitt of Mount Vernon and children, Tasa Summers, Tyler Jones and Jenha Jones; two great-grandchildren, Riley and Reece Davison; and the mother of his children, Faith Redding.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Redding; and two sisters, Rosalie Balkama and June Lemming.
Friends may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. Pastor Mike Mikels will officiate. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery near Gambier.
